ST. CASIMIR CATHOLIC PARISH’S 2ND ANNUAL “COME TO THE RIVER” 5K RUN/WALK AND KID’S CHALLENGE RUN
Annual Event to Take Place During Corn Roast Festival

LANSING, MI – St. Casimir Catholic Parish will host its 2nd Annual “Come to the River 5K Run/Walk and Kid’s Challenge Run on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 9 a.m. The race will take place during the parish’s annual Corn Roast Festival.
The scenic course will begin at Sparrow and Beal Street, through Moores Park and along the River Trail past the Elm Street Bridge and back. This is an accurate, wheeled course. Bib/Chip timing will be provided by Chuck Block, MRF Race Management.
Entry fee is $20 through July 30, 2012 which includes a cotton T-shirt or $25 which includes a moisture management tech shirt. Entries received after July 30, 2012 are $25 and include only a cotton T-shirt, subject to availability. An awards ceremony and a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Knights of Columbus will take place immediately following the race. The breakfast is free to race participants (your bib number is your breakfast ticket) and available to the public for a nominal fee.
The Kid’s Challenge run will begin at 9:30 a.m. and is free to all children 12 and under. No pre-registration is necessary and all participants will receive a certificate.
Proceeds from this year’s race will be used to benefit the many ministries in which St. Casimir Parish and its parishioners are involved, such as the Food Pantry, Second Sunday Dinners, Brown Box Ministry, St. Vincent de Paul and others. These ministries benefit the entire Lansing community.
“Last year’s inaugural event drew some 140 participants, which is a good starting point, and we hope to significantly increase that number this year. We hope it becomes a great tradition,” says Jim Mowry, one of the event organizers.
