The Sparkler 5k is a race held in honor of Felisa Barnes who passed away in a car accident in October 2009. Our race is called the Sparkler 5k because Felisa was a girl who was always glowing and she had the ability to brighten any room. Our race is meant to keep remembrance of Felisa and to have the proceeds go toward a scholarship for a student at Erie Mason who was involved in cross country or track and field, like her, while achieving high academic standards. Our race will be held annually and the remembrance will go on forever.

This flat fast 5000 meter course takes you along the coastline of Lake Erie in the small resort city of Luna Pier. The course highlights scenic parks, quiet lagoons and waterfront houses.
