CONSTRUCTION CHANGES
Important Information about the 2012 Kayla O’Mara Memorial Race!
PARKING is at the Goodrich Middle School, 7480 Gale Road. After 8 AM please avoid Gale Road between Green Road and Hegel Road. You may avoid this section of Gale Road by turning left onto McCandlish Road from Gale Road then Right onto Vassar Road and another right onto Burpee Road which will bring you to Gale Road. Turn Right onto Gale Road to Goodrich Middle School. You may also come via Perry Road to Hegel if you are coming from Grand Blanc area. If you do not avoid this section of Gale Road from 8-9 am race morning you may be slowed for runner safety and be late to the 5k start.
BIB PICK UP AND LATE REGISTRATION
Thursday 12-8 and Friday 10-2 at Bauman’s Running and Walking Shop located at 1473 W. Hill Road in Flint. Here you may pick up your chip, number and shirt. They will also be taking registrations here during these times.
Friday 5-8 PM and Saturday 6:30 AM up until 15 minutes prior to each race start at Goodrich Middle School located at 7480 Gale Rd. Driveway to the Middle School is off Hegel Rd. Pick up and late registration will be located in the rear of the Middle School next to the Gymnasium. Please follow the signs towards Gymnasium. Oaktree Elementary School will be on the left as you enter the driveway to the middle school, continue back to the Middle School.
COURSE CHANGES
10k Course turns right onto Ridge Road directly from Hegel road, and does not travel the gravel road section of Clarence Street to Huron Street that it has in past years. The finish is on the bike path in front of the Middle School. The course is wheeled for accuracy. http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/119803701
5k Course will also finish on the bike path and will completely avoid the Goodrich High School parking lot and track. The start will be a little closer to the Middle School than in past years. The rest of the course will remain unchanged. http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/119800981
POST RACE REFRESHMENTS
Post-Race area will be in the practice soccer fields near the race finish line. There will be a food tent with fruit, water and Gatorade. Awards and recognition of our 2012 Kayla O’Mara Scholarship Winners will also be in this area roughly at 10 AM for both the 10k and 5k race. We hope you can stay for awards.
RACE SCHEDULE-All courses open to traffic, we have volunteers at intersections and we’ve never had issues but please be aware.
7:15 AM HANDCYCLE START
7:30 AM 10K Run start – you may pass handcyclists, please be curtious and encouraging there is room for everyone on the roads
9:00 AM 5k Run/Walk start. Faster runners (6 min pace and under) should start in the front, walkers please start in the back. This race is a chip start and finish so your time will not start until you cross the mat! Remember, if you registered for the walk, please do not run! If you think that you might want to run at any point during the 5k we can switch you to the run, where it is perfectly okay to walk. Just let someone at registration know!
9:45 AM 1 MI Fun Run/Walk start (this event is not timed)
RESULTS
Unofficial results will be posted near the food tent as soon as possible after each race. Please remember these are unofficial results and in our desire to get them to you quickly errors are more prevalent in the first copy. If there is a problem with your result, please see the timing tent near the finish, they are extremely helpful and good at what they do! After the race the results will be posted online at www.runmichigan.com and at www.kaylarun.com. If you see any mistakes with the results online please email rotpac@rotpac.com for corrections.
