Since 1973, the original northern Michigan foot race along the shores of Lake Michigan in beautiful Traverse City. Choose from a point to point 5K or 15K, both finishing on Front St. on the main route of the National Cherry Festival’s Cherry Royale Parade, where you’ll be cheered on to a strong finish by thousands! Stay the weekend in one of the world’s most desired vacation destinations, including the nearby Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The 1000 runner 15K features the famous McKinley Climb, a mile long climb between miles 4 and 5 that features a crest top view of the Old Mission Peninsula, home to the cherry orchards and vineyards visited by vacationers from around the world. The 2300 runner 5K offers a scenic view of Traverse City’s historic neighborhoods, enroute to the .8 mile long straightway finish along Traverse City’s turn-of- the-century downtown storefronts. Both 15K and 5K runners are greeted at the finish with real sweet cherries, pits and all! The race also features an elite Mile immediately following the 15K and 5K. Sub 4 minute mile men, and sub 4:40 women milers compete for premiums and prize money.
